qhest twe pipe’ khwe’pɬ atchsetq’it. t’i’s hnpipe’ has been gone since 2006. He had bile duct cancer which is a rare cancer which occurs at high rates among Native males. The main treatment option is surgery but this cancer is often found when it is too late for surgery. When my dad was diagnosed he was able to get surgery and was told that it was all removed. He did one year of chemo and radiation after his surgery. Then after that he was symptom free for another year before it came back. I am thankful that we at least had those two years after his initial diagnosis. By that time it was too late to do anything. He fought to live and refused to give up but he lost his battle February 2006. He was one of the most important people in my life. I spent most of my time with him growing up. I miss him every day along with hinune’
