The Foundation has been invited to attend the Medical College of Wisconsin’s “Updates in Gastrointestinal Oncology” on March 23rd. The program will cover foregut, liver, pancreas, colorectal, and regional approaches to advanced malignancies. The guest faculty will be Dr. Timothy M. Pawlik, Associate Professor of Surgery and Chief of Surgical Oncology from Johns Hopkins. The lectures will review recent abstracts from the ASCO® GI Symposium Meeting in San Francisco earlier this year, and focus on the multidisciplinary advances being made in the field. Ample discussion time has been built into the program as well as case presentations highlighting interventional, radiation and transplant approaches in gastrointestinal cancer.
Exciting things are happening in Washington D.C. in April. CanLiv -The Hepatobiliary Cancer Foundation is holding its 3rd Symposium on April 5th, 2013 and immediately before the beginning of AACR- American Association for Cancer Research Annual Meeting held April 6-10. The 3rd Annual “Andrea’s Night” took place on January 12, 2013 and was a huge success. 500 people were in attendance including Harlem Globe trotter Meadow Lark Lemon and retired St Louis Cardinal pitcher Al Hrabarski who both generously donated items to the auction. A total of 31 live auction items, 108 silent auction items and 4 Aching Acres Landscape 10K design and build packages helped to raise $78,000. The Cholangiocarcinoma will be recieving a generous donation of $20,000 while the remaining funds will continue to grow Andrea’s Scholarship fund to the University of Southern Indiana. The Scholarship fund total will be up to $160,545.90 which is one year shy of hitting its goal amount of $200,000.
