Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation Receives a $500,000 Gift, the Largest in its History, from the Scott Family in Memory of Andrea Scott

The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (CCF) received a gift of $500,000, the largest in its history, from The Scott Family, in memory of wife and mother, Andrea (Breuhan) Scott, who lost her courageous 18-month battle with the disease in 2014. This gift, which will be used as a challenge match, will launch a new $1 million fund in support of the Foundation’s research and patient support programs. The Foundation’s Directors have created a Board designated fund which will act primarily as endowment support to the Foundation’s core activities; at the Board’s discretion, some of these funds may periodically be used to fund special projects.
The gift is being made as the Foundation launches its 15th Anniversary Celebration. Stacie Lindsey, founder and CEO, said, “We are extremely grateful to the Scott Family for this transformational gift and their ongoing commitment. The creation of this fund comes at a time when we are seeing substantial progress in research and the discovery of new treatment options for cholangiocarcinoma. This fund is a major step forward in the growth of our organization and an incredibly profound way to celebrate 15 years of impact.”
Andrea (Breuhan) Scott became active with the Foundation after her diagnosis of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma in April of 2013. She was a stalwart champion and prolific fundraiser for the organization. She created and founded the organization’s Campaign for the CURE, a highly successful annual fundraising drive for the Foundation. Stacie Lindsey shared, “Andrea was and continues to be, an inspiration to the Foundation, friends, family, patients, and caregivers worldwide, her enthusiasm and passion for this cause continue to give us hope and encourage us to take bold action.”
Jason Scott currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Foundation. He stated, “Our family could not think of a more meaningful way to honor Andrea’s memory than by accelerating research for this devastating disease. This gift continues the legacy she began in her lifetime and will help to provide long-term stability to the Foundation.”
In 2015, the Foundation established the “Andrea Scott Memorial Research Fellowship” which is supported by gifts from the Scott Family, Andrea’s parents, Ronald and Marilyn Breuhan, as well as friends, and other family. It has funded critical early-stage research into cholangiocarcinoma.
Over the course of the next 15 months, the Foundation will celebrate, its history, progress, and vision for the future through numerous initiatives and projects. The celebratory year will culminate at the organization’s 2022 annual conference.

The Scott Family has issued a challenge match to raise funds for an endowment. Gifts to the Board Designated Endowment Fund will be matched 1:1 up to $500,000.

The gift will be matched 1:1 up to $500,000 and will be used to create a Board designated endowment fund. Interest from the endowment will be used for operational support of Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation. At the Board’s discretion, the funds may be unrestricted at a future date.
