Thank you all for your support and praise. It’s a very hard road we’re on and sometimes we reach the end of the string and snap. I think it’s good for us to do that.
It gets out so much of the anger at the cancer so we are more able to take the strain of caring for our loved ones.God bless you all.

sadly, us caretakers, at times have to resort to extreme measures in advocating for the care of our loved ones. You had great results.
Wishing for the best

I have nothing to add, except to tell you how in awe I am of your strength and determination to do the best for John.Kris

I’m very nervous about the lymph nodes. It seems once it spreads it goes every where. My mom started with cervical cancer that spread to her kidneys, spine and finally the brain. I just have to keep thinking it’s going to be ok.
I hope you’re feeling better soon. May God bless you.

January 5, 2008 at 7:54 pm #18606jeffgMemberCharlene, Sorry to hear the change in John’s Dx and change of TX. I’m very pleased to hear you went postal on the insurance company and got results finally. I have had to do that a couiple times myself. They apppear to listen with open ears when you mention legal ramifications. There are supportive Insurance companies out there but then you always have those who drag their darn feet. what type of chemo is John going to start back on. You said it was holding things in place which is good sign in my book as long as it ‘s tolerable.
Wish ya both the best! Going to take a nap;up all night pinging because of steriods! I thought I was going to squeeze by this time but fool on me. That decadron got me again.
God Bless,
Jeff G.January 5, 2008 at 7:12 pm #1009fairydropMemberWe saw the oncologist yesterday and they reversed their decision on chemoembolization.
John has a cluster of lymph nodes (3cm) full of cancer cells directly involved with the vein to his R kidney.
The embolization would have no effect on the nodes and they’re afraid of mets to his lungs. We decided to restart chemo since it did keep the tumors from growing. We start next week. Now about our insurance. I called them, the Dr. called them and found out we had to get a 24 hour prior authorization. They faxed him the paper and he immediatly faxed it back.
48 hours later still no ok. I got on the phone and went postal on them. I told them my husband is dying and in pain, we had done everything they wanted and that they weren’t doing their job and that they better get it done NOW or I would be seeing a lawyer!
Amazing, within 1 hour we had the authorization!!!!I feel like I have won a huge battle. Now I know what to do in the future if they drop the ball again. It is so empowering to be able to do at least this one thing when you have no power over the cancer.
