ModeratorDear Papawadsicle,
Welcome, and congratulations on shrinkage of tumors!!! It sounds like you have done your homework looking into targeted therapies. Please keep us informed as to what therapy you will be using and for what it will target. Hoping there will be surgery in your near future! Take care and please keep in touch…..hugs and prayers.

Moderatorpapawadsicle…..welcome to our site. Congratulations on the significant shrinkage so far and wishing for the upcoming scan to show increased response to treatment. I assume you have had genomic profiling identifying genomic variations in your tumor. Some molecularly-targeted cancer drugs already are commercially available whereas others are in studies; many are in development stages.
On another note: where are you being treated and where is your surgeon located? I am near Piedmont frequently.
Hugs,

SpectatorDear Scott, welcome to the best place to be for CC support but sorry of course that you had to find us. Sounds like you are on a good course and do you mind telling us where you are being treated? Other will be along and will be able to answer your question about targeted therapy. Are you talking about a specific kind? Below is a site you may find helpful to you and please keep us updated on your progress.

SpectatorHello to all. I was diagnosed with CC in early March of this year and am now about 2/3 of the way through chemo which will end in late July. The treatment is Cisplatin and Gemzar with the hope of shrinking a 10×8.5 cm tumor to a resectable size. My 1st scan showed significant shrinkage and I will have another in mid-August followed by a 3rd meeting with my surgeon. If more shrinkage is desired it will be via targeted therapy. So I am lucky so far but who knows! I’d like to find out anyone’s experience with targeted therapy and certainly will offer my support to anyone curious about my treatment and its side effects. I can also tell everyone that before I was definitively diagnosed I went through 8 months of nausea, fatigue, and weight loss before having an abdominal CT scan which showed the tumor. papawadsicle
