Dear Nikki, it is sad but it may be from the Chemo. Can you tell his ONC what is happening and see what he thinks? Do all the things you feel are necessary and I feel your plan is good. Whether it is a short time or a longer time all your thoughts have valuable outcomes. Perhaps you will know more Friday. One thing we know for sure and that is CC is a monster. I hope now that the acites were drained he will feel much better. I am sure you are not in the way. Just keep doing as you are. Personally, I would wait for the time off to see what turn of events take place. Sending your family the best!

My dad seems like he is declining. He started his second cycle of Xeloda this week, but is sleeping more and says he just feels generally bad. I know we have to give it time, but it doesn’t seem to be helping so far.

It’s been hard to say if it is the new chemo, or the CC. While on Gem/Cis he was almost energetic! We had been going out to eat quite a bit, trying to keep on the weight. I bring my kids over to visit. This week is seems like too much for him.

He also had his first episode of acites, 2L were drained yesterday. Friday we will have the appointment to discuss the analysis of the fluid.

I just have so many thoughts.
I want to help my mom more, I was to stay out of the way.
I want to visit my dad, I want to keep at my job until I really NEED the time off.
I want my kids have some valuable visits with their grandpa, but don’t want them to overwhelm him.
I want this not to last so long, now that it seems his QOL is deteriorating, but how can I wish it away.
    Awful.
