Patients with serious and life threatening diseases have the ability to request compassionate use for a drug not yet approved by the FDA. Access to these not yet proven to be effective or safe drugs are not without risks and could potentially be harmful to the patient. In order to apply for this type of drug the physician must request permission from the FDA and ultimately the pharmaceutical company must agree to release the drug to you.

You are able to attend (via livestream and free of charge) a 2 day bioethics symposium October 28-29 that the New York Academy of Sciences and NYU School of Medicine are sponsoring on compassionate use and expanded access to investigational drugs.
