When Cancer Comes Back – recurrence or progression?

I hope that the issues addressed by the American Cancer Society opens the door to discussions among us as it touches on many subjects familiar to us.

For example:

Recurrence and progression and local, regional or distant recurrence. Could it have been prevented?

What does it mean if the doctor says “The cancer is controlled or progressed”?

What is complete response or complete remission?

Palliative treatment: is it to control the cancer, is it to cure, is it to make you more comfortable?

Recurrence does not mean hopelessness.

For our cancer in particular: treating cancer as a chronic illness.

Understanding that cancer can’t be controlled by a positive attitude and that everyone gets through cancer in their own way.
