    Hi Sharon-

Once my dad started getting ascites it wasn’t very long before he passed. My thoughts are with you.

Sharon, I add my sentiments to what you and Phil are going through. I just want to say that if you want to prepared I do have a list of the 10 signs the journey is nearing an end. I would email them you if you send me a note through the site here. I found that the more we know and understand what is happening that it does ease up the journey and helps with the frightening part of not knowing what to expect. Stay strong and hang in there and all our spirits are with you both.

    Sharon,

I am sorry to hear this latest news about Phil and agree with Marion that you so deserve answers to the questions that you have. So please, please speak with the doctors as soon as you can and ask them anything and everything, especially about what you have been reading. Please know as well that we are here for you and I am thinking of you and Phil and sending loads of positive thoughts too.

    Hugs,

    Gavin

sharon……don’t hold back from asking the physician; not only do you deserve an answer, you are entitled to it as well. Based on my experience and that of others, I am tempted to put value in the information provided by the literature. Please speak with the physician.
    My heart is with you,
    Hugs

Phil ended up having two paracentesis in one week. They inserted a Pluerx tube and now he gets 3-5 liters drained a week. The fluid is malignant. His energy level hasn’t returned although the draining does help his breathing. Has anyone had experience with malignant ascites? All my reading says that it is a signal of final stages.

Sharon….your husband will feel significantly better post paracentesis and he should regain energy as well. Is there something in particular he likes to eat? If so, then I would try to entice him with whatever he prefers. Small meals at a time are good; ultimately the total day calorie count is of importance. Tons of good wishes are heading your and Phil’s way.
    Hugs,
    Marion

Dear Sharon, I hope so too. Will be sending lots of prayers, good vibes and juju! Please let us know how he does. I would think it may help quite a lot. Sure hope so!

After Phil’s oncologist visit, we found out that he does have ascites caused by blood clots in his abdomen. His tumor count is now over 2000. He is scheduled for a paracentesis in the morning and then he will begin the 2nd line chemo drug-Folfori. He is finding more difficult to get up and is eating very little. Hoping that draining the fluid will give him back some energy.
