Adithya22August 27, 2017 at 5:43 pm #95549gavinModeratorHi Adithya,
Welcome to the site. I am sorry to hear about your dad and all that you are going through right now and having been there with my dad also I know what you are going through right now. We will help if we can but please know that we are not doctors and can not as such give you medical advice etc. We will help with sharing our knowledge, support and experience etc but can not give specific medical advice as to do this, take this etc would be medical advice.
As far as supplements in general goes, please be very very careful as to what your dad takes. And please do NOT believe all of the claims that are made about something on the internet as so many of them are fake and could be very dangerous. Quercetin which you mention I have no knowledge or experience of but I found this link for you –
https://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/integrative-medicine/herbs/quercetin
The only reason I post this link is that the source, MSKCC is highly reputable to say the least but once again, please be very wary of any and all internet claims regarding anything really. And please make sure that you discuss this fully with your dads medical team to see what they say or recommend.
Please also take a look around this board here as that may be use to you as well –
http://www.cholangiocarcinoma.org/punbb/viewforum.php?id=23
As to where supplements can be shipped from I have no ideas on that front. Please keep in touch and let us know how things go with your dad.
My best wishes to you and your dad,
Gavin

I have no experience with these supplements. I am sorry I can’t help with your request. Maybe someone will chime in with experience if they read the post. All my best to you and your father.

Thank you for the clarification.
This discussion board is a forum where CCA patients and caregivers exchange information on their experiences with various treatments and other aspects of this rare cancer. The board is not a vehicle intended to provide specific medical advice – there is a wealth of information here however that can help you learn about treatment and care options. If you are looking at web information suggesting certain treatments may be helpful, the next step would be to discuss them with your father’s physicians and medical care providers.
Using the board’s search engine, you can look for experiences of CCA patients and caregivers with any treatment and care options you are considering.
Please keep us updated on how your father is faring.
Regards, Mary
August 26, 2017 at 9:48 am #95546adithya22SpectatorHi,
Thank you for the response. Sorry about the second supplement, it is Triptolide extracted from (Thunder God Vine Root) / Terminalia chebula. A Typographical error. Yes, I could collect a lot of information related to the palliative care.I am writing from Chennai, India at the moment, though i live in Bangalore. My father is still in the ICU. Kindly advise on the efficacy of both alternative supplements and if at all any others without side effects can be advocated. Much in anticipation…

Adithya22August 25, 2017 at 10:48 pm #95545bglassModeratorHi Adithya22,
Welcome to the discussion board. I am sorry to learn about your father’s diagnosis, and hope you have been able to look at the information for new patients posted on the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation website.
I am not familiar with the supplements you mention, or their potential benefits for a cancer patient. A few patients on this board have mentioned taking quercetin. I found no information on tropolide and wondered if it has another name.
There is information on the board in the Supportive, Palliative and Hospice Care section that discusses care options to improve the quality of life for a cancer patient. Certainly as you mentioned attention is needed to ensure stents are functioning properly. It is also important that there is adequate pain relief through appropriate medications that starts as soon as it is needed. Given the rareness of this cancer, it is desirable to find medical providers with some experience with Cholangiocarcinoma, for example, in a major cancer hospital – I hope this is possible in your area.
May I ask where you are writing from, given your question about having supplements quickly shipped?
Your determination to help your father in this difficult time will be a great comfort for him.
Regards, Mary
August 25, 2017 at 6:33 pm #13630adithya22SpectatorHi, My father 85 years old was diagnosed of CC type 2. Mass could grow into the stunt implanted a year ago and now its 90% obstruction of the left hepatic duct and partially in the common hepatic duct too (Hilar region). Oncologist have completely ruled out chemo and radiation approach in consideration of his age and moreover like his time is ticking. Terminal stage we were told. PTPD procedure performed couple of days ago to drain the bile from his left lobe. Had a silent MI yesterday. God is great. Let me not loose faith. Life never seems to be the way we want it, but we live in the best way we can. There’s no perfect life but we can always fill it with positive moments. So, out of extensive search i could find Quercetin and tropolide as alternatives. I was very impressed with (Quercetin) its performance elsewhere but its bioavailability seems to be good in IV form rather than being administered as a capsule. Tropolide too shows quiet a good of promise but is immunosuppresive on a stronger dose. Please advice, even if there are any other without side effects and from where do we ship them. For me, every day counts…
