There is my grandbaby who will need me when she starts school in 4 years…so I keep on going I do short term-long term.i just keep living as if I were totally well..don’t give in or give up ..God is on our side…October 12, 2008 at 11:22 pm #23520marionsModeratorMore then 10 million people with a history of cancer are alive today in the United States and many more in other countries. New treatments are always being developed. The fear that any one of you has cancer or might develop it at any time is mixed with hope. Research is constantly finding new ways to treat cancer. This is what gives me hope.

taken from: American Cancer SocietyOctober 12, 2008 at 11:10 pm #23519jeffgMemberI just make plans and go! But I always make it perfectly clear ,if something pops up health wise, and If it has to be dealt with immediately, that’s what will be done and I’ll reschedule just as soon as the way is clear. I also plan and go on unnounced adventures as well. Like Carol posted the other day, I feel so good being and doing with the family. There is no better medicine against this disease, than postive flow of energy called love; for and from your family. I’m going to the post office Tuesday and apply for my passport. Like I’ve always tell my 80 year mother in law ” You just never know?” And the point is you don’t disease or not.
Bless All,
JeffOctober 12, 2008 at 10:37 pm #23518devoncatSpectatorI have such a hard time sometimes about planning for the future. It is so difficult sometimes, but it sounds like you are on the right road.
I am a little different in that I am cancer free right now. But we all know the statistics about it coming back. So I pretty much am terrified of the future. But then I start thinking about the future. I have 14 more months before I can start trying for children. That is the one thing I hold onto and plan for the future.

Like last June, Teddy’s daughter set up a family reunion for Labor Day weekend and now another for over the Christmas Holidays. Something to talk about that involves family, is the best RX.
October 12, 2008 at 2:50 pm #1643lisaSpectatorHow do you stay positive and look towards the future when your future has been robbed by cholangiocarcinoma?
I printed out two one-year calendars for 2009 and 2010 and have them posted over my desk at work. Then I think of the things that I would like to do in those years. I think of my daughter graduating from high school and starting college in 2010. I think of taking a vacation to see my relatives and friends in the Midwest in 2009.
This gives me more motivation to fight to stay alive, rather than passively accepting my illness.
