I told Dad about the pickle & he’s going to try it out, thank you. The altoids is a good idea too. Thanks!

The day after Gemzar treatment, I have a icky “diet Coke” aftertaste in my mouth all day. Altoids help.

When I was having radiation (for seven weeks!) I had a nasty, burnt taste in my mouth a lot of the time. Eating a pickle seemed to “re-boot” my mouth and let it taste different things. Not sure that would help with a bad salty taste.

    Wishing you all the best!

Absolutely Heather. I am just getting back from the store, tending to a grocery list specific to doughnuts, kit-kats, orange juice & french dressing (per Dad’s request). Even the sweet things taste salty to him so often anymore. But like you, Mom say’s that we have to get something into him! She is going to try the lemon sorbet on him tomorrow. Another drink that has been a big hit for him this week is the 1/2 orange juice & 1/2 lemonade. Let me know if the lemon works for your husband. Best to you.

Tess, thanks so much for the tid-bit of information…my husband complains about this often…actually so much so that he favors really, really sweet things…not much nutritional value, but nevertheless it’s something! We will definitely give the lemon a try!

Dad has not been eating much lately, has lost nearly 50 lbs. since Nov. Likely a result of the chemo. He insists that everything tastes too salty…. even the crust of bread. He has discovered that if he chews on a lemon wedge before his meal, it helps cut through that salty taste & allows him to enjoy small amounts of food.

    Thought we’d share…..
