On the recommendation of a Boston Oncologist who has experience working with recurrent BDC I included a test for CA 125 in my blood work.
This protein is normally used for ovarian cancer but apparently it can also be produced in the lining the lining of the chest and abdominal cavities (the pleura and the peritoneum).
Normal range is < 35 and mine is now 235. As with CA 19-9 the numbers can range very widely and one value to watching them may be the direction of travel.
Since mine is elevated, and my CA19-9 is also raising at a rapid rate compared to where it’s been for 3 years, I suspect it may be a valuable indicator for me and I’m interested to know if anyone else is watching this.
