Good luck on the plan of attack. I have never had radiation or the chemo Dave will be on so I cant offer any insight just good vibes and tons of hope.

Hi Buggsie, yes it is all really scary until you start and then learn so much that you become the pro you never wanted to be. To me, it sounds like your doctor really has everything under control. Teddy has only had radiation and the only side effect was extreme tiredness towards the end of the treatments. It lasted about 2 months but during that 2 months he just rested and every few days seemed to get a little stronger. Sorry can’t help out on the chemo. You are doing great and just have hope and stay strong.

We went to the Siteman Center in St. Louis yesterday, and met with our Oncologist. Dave will be starting chemo August 5th. He will have a port put in, and he will be doing a mix of Taxotere and Gemzar. He will do 1x a week for 2 weeks, then off for 2 weeks for a total of 6 weeks. He then suggested Radiation, for 5 1/2 weeks 5 days a week. He said that even though the resection was successful, in Dave’s case he was VERY close to the surgical margin, so we need to zap that area. There were 16 lymph nodes involved, with 2 being cancerous, so that is why his recommendation is chemo. After we finish the 5 1/2 weeks of radiation, we will have 2 weeks off, and then start a second round of the first chemo again. Dave will also have a pump. My question is, anyone had this combo? Also, can anyone tell me about the pump, anyone use one? Side effects??

PS…I am a caregiver, and I am so scared….don’t know what to expect.

    Thanks so much!
