ModeratorHi Marion,
I received a reply today from Cancer Research UK, and they say that the Southamptom Cancer Research UK centre will be focusing on liver cancers. Here is a link to their page on the Cancer Research website-
Professor John Primrose heads up the clinical trial team looking at bile duct cancer-
This is one of the trials that he is running just now, BILCAP-
The person who emailed me today is also going to search the cancer research database for CR- UK funded scientists conducting work on CC and I will post the results here when I get them.
Best wishes,
Gavin

I haven’t received a reply yet to my first email, so I sent them another one today asking the same questions again. I will let you know if they respond to it and what they say if they do.
Best wishes,

ModeratorMarion,
I emailed Cancer Research asking what the treatment/research plan is for CC and if, where and who will be doing all of this. I will post back here when I get a reply from them.
Best wishes,
Gavin

ModeratorHi Marion,
I will see what I can do with regards to finding out some more information as to where CC patients are to be treated and where the research etc is to be carried out. I think the Dundee centre will be looking into bowel, breast and skin cancers. Some more links,
http://science.cancerresearchuk.org/research/centres/
and the Dundee centre,

And Cambridge in England,

ModeratorHi everyone,
I saw this in my local paper today and thought I would post a link.
http://www.thecourier.co.uk/output/2010/02/04/newsstory14492086t0.asp
It is not directly CC related, but the more research into cancer and what can be done to it fight it in the future is always good. Dundee is my home city, born here and lived all my life here, and Ninewells is where my dad was diagnosed and treated.
From what the piece says, it seems like Cancer Research UK are trying to establish a chain of research centres throughout the UK and Dundee is the first of many planned. Hopefully they will all be up and running soon, and as Margaret would say, we can keep kickin that cancer!
Best wishes all,
Gavin
