I don’t disagree. Here are some recent articles re: the situation in Alberta

    Hi Marion,

Thanks for that. I didn’t know that this has been an ongoing issue for a few years now. Over here, oil exploration and extraction is of the more traditional method involving drilling in the North Sea and is very different from the tar sand extractions in Alberta.

    Best wishes,

I don’t know, Marion… I read about this a year ago, so I don’t remember the exact number, but it did really seem like too many cases of such a rare cancer in such a small area to be a coincidence. And considering the amount of money to be made in mining the “tar sands,” I’m not surprised that they claim it’s caused by something else.

My heart goes out to those poor Native people who have to deal with this disease, way up there and far from cutting-edge health care…

Gavin….thanks for posting this. This has been an ongoing issue for the last three years. The latest I head though is that the incidence of CC is not related to the tar. I can’t remember the date of the newspaper article however, as far as I remember, the accusations of the physician were disputed.

    Hi all,

Just found this piece and thought I would share it with you all. The piece itself is quite lengthy and doesn’t mention CC until near the end, but I thought it worth flagging up. The relevant part of the article concerns oil extraction from tar sands in Alberta Canada.
