    Hi Irene,

Your post was interesting although I don’t know anything about the anti-androgen therapy that you mentioned. I am 53 and had my only child at 48 after 5 years of fertility treatments. When I was diagnosed with CC last year, my doctors were questioning my use of birth control pills. When I mentioned the fertility treatments, they became quite interested in what I took and for how long and what doses, etc. Nothing ever came of it, but I felt too that there was a hormonal link of some kind.

I also have a sister-in-law that went through fertility treatments at a later age and developed another rare form of cancer.

Just thought that this was very interesting indeed. Hope there are others out there that might have heard more about this.

    Thanks,
    Linda Z.

One more thing: here is a link to a study concerning anti-androgen and pancreatic cancer: http://www.springerlink.com/content/j1n733q737334482/

    Hi All,

Irene here. Don’t write as often as I should, but I do check in.

Wanted to know if anyone has been hearing any talk or has been offered options including anti-androgen therapy for cholangio. Anti-androgens were used for years, will good results, in men with prostate cancer. They’ve begun to look at anti=androgen therapy in trying to treat some pancreatic cancers and in ovarian cancers in women (obiously.) Not a lot of great results yet, but the studies have been very small.

Just wondered if anyone has any experience or have any onco’s even been considering this sort of treatment. Seems like there is definitely a hormonal link to at least some form of this illness — the version that seems to afflict women in 40’s and 50’s, those who’ve had lifelong problems with periods, weight battles, polycystic ovary syndrome, and diabetes/metabolic syndrome/insulin resistance. Anyway — just curious. I am thinkning anti-androgen approach, while not particularly promising at this time, also seems to be, overall, something relatively benign to try. So if anybody has any knowledge, good or bad, please share!

    Take good care, all.

    Irene
