Cathy,
My Mom is in a sort of similar situation as your husband. Mom (age 63) had the whipple surgery in Oct ’06. So far, her ct scan and blood tests have come back clean. She is doing really well, walking on the treadmill several days each week. I’ve heard that staying active during chemo helps alleviate side effects like nausea and can even improve appetite.
She is doing the same chemo regimen as your husband: Gemcitabine 3 wks on, 1 wk off. 3 wks on, 1 wk off. Then 6 wks radiation, then another few courses of chemo. She is going through chemo right now, and so far the only real side effect is some mild to moderate nausea and lack of appetite.
Best of wishes to you both!
Meghan
