Alaska joined Iowa and Kentucky as states that passed clinical trials coverage legislation this year. The new law requires insurance companies to cover routine costs for all four phases of clinical trials. The governor has 20 days to sign the bill and then it will go into effect 45 days after it is signed. When the law goes into effect, there will be 34 states, in addition to the District of Columbia, that require coverage for clinical trials or a voluntary agreement with major insurers.
