I’ve been “absent” from here for a while and was stunned when I heard your original news. I’m glad things are somewhat better. You absolutely do have the best attitude. I hope some rubs off on me as I settle in for the fight soon. You are my inspiration and like you, I will not give up. Others have too much to learn from me! At least that’s what I’m sticking to.
Hang in there and hope all my prayers find their way to you and your doctors.

I am glad to hear that things are slightly better after the followup appointment, but disappointed for you that there wasn’t all over good news. You have an amazing attitude about all of this and I wish I could steal some of your fighting spirit for myself!
You have been on my heart and mind since the first post on this thread but I couldn’t come up with the right words to cheer you on. It sounds like you did that for me with the results of the followup appointment.
You keep on fighting and I will keep on praying.

bobHi Kris. Guess one has to look at it as better news than you thought it would be.
You are so very special and your attitude should be bottled and sold. As always we are sending our best wishes to you along with lots of hugs and again hoping for the best.Met with the doctor again today and got some things clarified. I do NOT have a new tumor, old Leroy just decided to have a massive growth spurt. Radiation is not effective for me. There were no new masses anywhere including my bones which had been a worry.
My bloodwork is much better. Doctor doesnt understand what happened. Never mind, he said my bloodwork is wonderful considering.
I will have a gastroscopy asap to look at why I am having so much heartburn. They think Big Leroy is causing problems. Good news is that I think my favorite surgeon (yes, I do have a favorite) will do the procedure for me. The images will be sent to the big university hospital in Linkoping where I had my failed surgery in Febuary to see if there is anything they can do. That is good news because they are pretty aggressive with me there.
I told the Dr. I have NOT given up and I expect the same from them. He looked startled and said of course they have not given up and hoped he did not give me that impression last time (What impression does he think telling one to go home and enjoy life gives?) His quote “Give us some time to look under the rocks” in the mean time I need to have my kidneys checked to be prepared for a new chemo regime.
My favorite nurse (yes, I have one of those too) commented on my weight loss and even fussed at Hans over it. They went to school together so she has lots of room to fuss. So back to trying to eat more I guess which is really hard when you have so much acid reflux and heartburn. I will be getting those nutrician drinks again…YUM.
That is all the news. Hans and I looked at it as getting the best of the bad news. It could have been so much worse. I am still here, still with 2 tumors (though significantly larger) and organs are functioning pretty much like they should. I can still play and laugh and each day I am here brings me closer to the day when a real treatment or cure for this crappy cancer becomes available. I most likely wont be here for it, but one can hope.

Remember, YOU are the boss– the oncologists are just here to help you. YOU tell them if you’re ready to give up– and obviously, you’re not!

Not the best of news, but as the others have said, they don’t know who they are dealing with! We’ll just wait and see what the rest of the week brings. Hopefully some better news. Yes, we are all here for you and we’ll be waiting to hear about the Wednesday and Friday meetings and hoping for the best. Know that you and Hans are in my thoughts and prayers.

Not the news we hoped for but I feel very sorry for the doctors if they think you are ready to just give up!

Hi Kris, not the kind of news we want to wake up to on a Monday. I feel llike calling them and telling them who they are dealing with here. First of all I think they need to change that meeting name froma discinpilary meeting to an informative meeting. Sounds like you a naughty child, which we know you are not! Hang in, kid, stay strong, and if you are not ready to give up, then don’t! We are all behind you and sending much love and hugs.
Obviously not such good news or I would be posting in the good news section…good news? Whats that?
1) I possibly have a new tumor 71/2 x 51/2 x 41/2 but they are not sure. It is in the area of another tumor. He hasnt seen the scan himself, only the radiologists notes so he is unsure if this is a tumor, something else, or just growth of the original tumor
2) no shrinkage from radiation
3) fluid on my right lung cause either by a new tumor, irritation from radiation, or irritation from an old tumor pressing on it
4) BAD blood values. Dr. believes I am bleeding somewhere. Will need to have more tests and scans.
5) Dr. is concerned about all the heartburn and reflux I am having. He is going to talk to the surgeons about an ERCP
There will be a multi disciplinary meeting on Wednesday where they will discuss my case. I will meet with my doctor on Friday to discuss their suggestions. My normal oncologist is out until next week and she will be devising a new plan (hopefully). This was the first time I have meet with on of my onocologists and got the feeling they were giving up. He actually said something about just enjoying life. Huh? I am not ready to give up yet!
