I purchase my regular insurance plans from Go insurance firm. Before I approached this firm, I performed travel insurance comparison for 5 companies and came up with this company as the best.
February 28, 2007 at 11:03 pm #13811ron-smithMemberThanks for the info Jules. Glad you had a great time. We love Florida and have been going there for 15 years. Started going to Orlando, but now we spend all our time on the Gulf Coast. It is so relaxing and the beaches are beautiful. I certainly hope we manage to get back, even if it is just to sell our apartment. Anyway, it is probably out of our hands just now. Just have to see what happens. Re the insurance, I was expecting our existing insurance company to formally ask questions about my health but nothing so far. Of course they only know about the surgery and the temporary clean bill of health, not the recurrence. I tried the cancer backup site but for some reason my computer took a scunner to it and kept hanging. I’ll try again tomorrow.
Thanks again
Ron

My Dad did not feel up to coming with us in the end, he was concerned about the journey and the heat and at the time he was having chemo. I took my daughter and we had a fantastic time, it was a much needed break. In answer to your question, I think my Dad was unable to get a reasonable price for insurance, I think it is possible, even for a pre-existing condition to find insurance although I seem to remember that it was not easy (my Dad will be able to clarify this).
Cancer bacup are able to provide a list of insurers who might be able to help, I do hope you are able to go.

I have just come across this posting and wondered how your dad got on with holiday insurance? We go to Florida every year and have travel insurance as a “freebie”” through a bank account. Last year, we had booked our flights before I received my diagnosis and subsequent resection. The trips were after the surgery and the insurance company covered us for the trips. Now I have been told the cancer has recurred and I am waiting to find out if it will be suitable for surgery. So if we want to go to Florida this year (assuming I am physically able), I will have to tell the insurance company about my current condition.
Sorry, I have just re-read that and it does ramble a bit!
The point of the question is – did your dad get insurance and if so, was the premium loaded?
Thanks
Ron
January 31, 2006 at 9:58 pm #43julesSpectatorwe have booked a holiday to disneyland florida for july, taking my 11 yr old daughter- my dad has been told that he should be able to get insurance although they cannot give a definate answer on this until may as there is a query over whether my dad will be having chemo, does anybody have experience of travelling whilst on chemo? or advice re the insurance issue? (we are in the uk). Thanks, Jules.
