I tried smoothies with a combo of veggies and fruit…following the Crazy Sexy Diet idea from Kris Carr. The one that I really liked was cucumber, spinach, romaine lettuce, apple and a little bit of stevia to sweeten; all blended with water.

Add 2 cut up heads of cabbage (or heads of state, sorry) lemon juice and brown sugar to taste. I use a lot of both. Pepper. I use lots of that too. Actually season it any way you want after the brown sugar and lemon juice. Cook long and slow. Freezes well too. Delicious in the winter. People have had it who don’t eat cabbage and loved it.
Either that or they were lying to me!January 14, 2011 at 5:59 am #46685cathy_aSpectator“do yourself a favor and put a dash of vodka in!”
I tell my friends that I can not have a drink anymore and they remind me that I am getting a new liver so why not abuse the old one…. I still laugh at that one. But they do have a point!
Kathy, I take a 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric with a 1/4 teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil with a dash of pepper… my daily medicine. (read it in a few books).
Lainy, if you have a recipe for cabbage soup (and you promise that the cabbage tastes better than cabbage juice) I would love that recipe please.
Your roasted veggies is like my roasted potatoes but I use seasoning salt, olive oil with bell peppers, garlic & onions. I will have to try your recipe next.
Thanks ladies!
January 14, 2011 at 3:46 am #46684lainySpectatorNot in to juicing but I LOVE V8. I even use it as a base for cabbage soup and vegetable soup. I have a great recipe for roasted veggies! Put anything and everything in a pan (zuccini. green and red peppers, cauliflower, broccolli, red onion). Mix together olive oil, Accent, Worchestire Sauce, salt, pepper all to taste. Pour over and roast about an hour. I cover it the first 1/2 hour then take the foil off. Delicioso!
January 14, 2011 at 3:25 am #46683chezwrightaol-comSpectatorHEy..put do yourself a favor and put a dash of vodka in! And some turmeric…I do that..heard it’s supposed to be VERY good for you (anyone else heard that too?) and it doesn’t taste bad at all! (just 1/4 tsp) and makes me feel a bit virutous!
I promised myself to look at the instructions for the juicer “tomorrow”. I’ll let you know how it goes!
HugsJanuary 14, 2011 at 2:07 am #46682cathy_aSpectatorNO… french fries do NOT count
But a girlfriend had a great idea today. She said when I go to the grocery store, read the labels and see what is in the juice aisle. I never go down that aisle because the juices have so much concentrate and sugar. So tomorrow I will check out like the V8 label and try that. So it would have tomatoes, celery?? And what ever else, minus the vodka

January 13, 2011 at 11:16 pm #46680betsySpectatorI”m with you Cathy – when it comes to veggies, I like them, NOT. I have a Vita-mix blender and I’ll dust it off and look at the veggie drinks. Maybe between you, Kathy and me, we can come up with some drinks we like.

January 13, 2011 at 3:46 am #46679cathy_aSpectatorThank you and have fun playing!
Today I tried the beets, carrots & ginger for lunch. It was not horribly bad and drinkable. My mantra… you had 50years to eat for pleasure and now you are eating for health.. shut up and drink it! lol
January 12, 2011 at 1:39 am #46678chezwrightaol-comSpectatorMy daughter gave me a juicer for XMAS along with a cookbook. I’m starting this week and will be glad to share recipes with you!
KathyJanuary 11, 2011 at 2:07 am #4604cathy_aSpectatorI have never been a huge veggie person but read about how important it is to juice (giving your digestive system time to work on healing instead of digesting). So I bought all of these juicing books and I have wasted more darn veggies on combos that I had to hold my nose to swallow. Juicing has not been fun.
Anyone have any juice recipes that they love?
