Welcome to the site. I know I’m a bit late here but I just wanted to join in with the others in welcoming you here. Sorry that you had to finds us all but I’m glad that you have joined us as you will get a load fo support and help from us all. So please, feel free to ask any and all questions that you have and I know that great members here will do what they can to help answer them.
I am glad to hear that your Gran was able to have surgery and that she is up and about now. How is she doing today? My dad never had surgery for his CC so I can’t chime in with his experiences but I see that others have shared their experiences and I’m sure others will as well.
I do hope that you will keep coming back here and let us know how your Gran is getting on.

Hello Candy….I agree with the others. Your have a fantastic grandma. Both, her and your grandpa also has raised a wonderful granddaughter.
Your grandma’s recuperations will be very individual based on her personal health and strengths. This is a difficult surgery and comments describing the experience range anywhere from “easy” to “the feeling of having been run over by a truck.” It appears for your grandma to be right on par with the majority of patients. Given her age that is a good sign.
You also had asked about ribbons, which may be ordered through the foundation.

I would like to welcome you to the site.
How amazing that your Grandmother got through the surgery so well, it is such a massive operation and that is her first hurdle.
My Dad had a similar operation 18 months ago at age nearly 73 but sadly his outcome wasn’t good and he passed away 9 days later.
I wish all of you much luck as you travel this journey with your Grandmother. Please come back and let us know her progress.

Dear Candi – Welcome to this site. As is often said, we are so sorry you had to find us, but this is a great family to be a part of. My best wishes go out to you, your grandma and your family. How wonderful that they got the whole tumor in the surgery. As you will read on our site, many people are non-operable by the time cc is diagnosed. Glad your grandma is doing so well after her surgery. She definitely sounds amazing. I also think your grandma and grandpa are fortunate to have you and your son living with them during this time.

Yes Lainy she is definitely a very strong and amazing woman! She and my grandfather raised me from the time i was 3 until i got married, and now im 37, divorced and me and my son are living with them again. I owe so much to them and i can only hope to be half the woman she is.
Wow, Candi, your Grandma must be a super woman! If you go to the top of the page and click on Store you will find all kinds of things with CC on them. It is hard to believe an 84 year old went through that surgery so well. Wishing her continued success.
Thank You so much Lainy! My Grandmother is almost 84 years old, and she is being treated at UVA hospital in Charlottesville Virginia. She is actually doing quite well given her age and the size of the tumor. She has been up and out of the bed yesterday and today and they will have her walking tomorrow. They’ve talked some about her after care when she gets home, but im not sure what type of cancer therapy she will need to have. Thats one of the things im worried about, like will she have to have chemo or anything like that? I was wondering, is there a cancer ribbon for cholalngiocarcinoma? I would love to get some or make some for my family and friends to wear.
Hello Candi and welcome to our family. We are hoping also that the doctor does not find any spread of the CC. How is Grandma doing? Can you tell us her age and where she is being treated? If you are to be your Grandma’s advocate the most important thing you can do, beside being at her side, is to educate yourself on CC. Read up as much as you can and you might want to use our search engine at the top of the page. Just type in a word and many posts will appear with the information you are looking for. Please feel free to come here oftem to vent, advise or ask questions. You are not alone!
My grandmother was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma in december and just had surgery 2 days ago. The doctor removed the whole left side of her liver and is confident that he got the whole tumor, which ended up being the size of a softball. They also removed some lymph nodes to test just to make sure it hadnt spread. I am hoping to find some information and support through this discussion board.
