Have a wonderful Birthday Party and kisses to Dad.February 25, 2011 at 6:30 pm #48350jennifersMemberThe results from the CT were great! There is a new very small (2mm or so) mass on his lung but aside from that, there is no change! YAY!! His bili is a bit up, so they are booking another drain change in the next little while, which is totally fine… changing them regularly has helped keep him from having any problems until now, so may as well continue!
They are going to see him again in a month and plan another CT for 12 weeks from now, and then go from there.
Great news this morning, and a birthday celebration tonight with the family… today is a GOOD day.Jen
February 25, 2011 at 6:18 am #48349nancy246SpectatorHappy Birthday Herb!! A great milestone and a wonderful family to share it with! One day I will look for that bench in Kananaskis. Here’s hoping your next visit there will not be so cold!!! Doug understands – he really feels the cold as well. We now look forward to his 60th on May 3rd! Hugs to all of you.

Happy birthday to your dad. The outing to his bench sounds particularly memorable – I’d love to see the location. And love your dad’s humour. With plenty of good wishes for his CT results tomorrow.

February 24, 2011 at 4:28 pm #4824jennifersMemberWell, we have reached yet another milestone that we didn’t think Dad would be around to see. His strength and courage continue to amaze us daily, and I’m so thankful for every moment I get to spend with him. A year ago we were sure he wouldn’t be here to celebrate his 60th, and here is is, still doing quite well. He has an appointment tomorrow to get the results of his latest CT, and I think he’s a bit nervous… he’s been having an increase of pain in his stomach… I guess we will see what the results are, and go from there.
On Monday (family day) we went out to see his Memorial Bench in Kananaskis. It was a bit rough for him – not emotionally (it was cold, so we didn’t have time to get emotional), but because when we got out there, we didn’t know exactly where it was (none of us had visited it before) and the snow was to my waist – not easy to navigate – especially with a broken shoulder! It was quite the trek, but Dad made it and we got some great pictures with him on the bench, and with us all together. It’s BEAUTIFUL – on the path we have walked a million times before, and directly on the river. He was freezing and told us that if we didn’t hurry up it was going to be a “memorial” bench a lot sooner because he was going to freeze to death – ha ha! I will try to post the pictures on facebook and paste a link here for all to see.
I am thinking and praying for all the people that have lost someone they love in recent weeks… there seems to be a wave of bad news right now, and I hope the wave ends VERY quickly! I pray those affected can find strenth knowing their loved ones are at peace, no longer suffering, and in a place for better then here on earth, watching over the ones they hold dear….
Jen
