Texas does not allow medical marijuana but I ordered CBD Hemp oil on the internet (which is legal throughout the US, and it seems to help me when my back really hurts. I found a website which is reputable and the oil is not cheap but good. Which I could find some with some HTC in it but don’t know where to look. I don’t like taking morphine or codeine as it makes me feel drowsy and sleepy.
March 20, 2016 at 6:41 pm #48941gavinModeratorThanks for that Elizabeth and glad that it helped. Maybe speaking with the doc or onc about medical marijuana is something that you could do?
My best to you both,

March 20, 2016 at 1:50 am #48942elizabethwMemberWe were in a state where marijuana use was legal – My partner said it was more effective for his pain than any of the prescription medications he had been prescribed (e.g., oxycodone, percoset, dilaudid, etc), and it increased his appetite.
Going into the experience I hadn’t given much thought to medical marijuana – now I understand the support behind it. He was in a lot of pain and it really helped him.

February 21, 2016 at 3:01 am #48939donnacMemberI have used marijuana for my migraines and it does reduce the pain to a level where it is tolerable. I have not needed it for any cancer pain since i have not experienced it yet, but i would think if it helps deaden the nerves for a headache, it would help with other pain. I have smoked and ingested it and did not notice the effects being any different.

My youngest daughter has read about cannabis oil and to be honest the health professionals in the UK seem to have little understanding about this product.
There are success stores out there but I just find them too good to be true and put little credence in what I read.
I would be very interested to hear of anyone who has used it, first hand or family experiences and thoughts on its efficacy – Tony

From this piece, it seems that a cannibinoid spray called Sativex has had some good results. More on Sativex in these links –

April 1, 2011 at 8:25 pm #48935nur1954SpectatorMarni – Just want to say that the brownies were not legal in our state. The medical marijuana (marinol) just didn’t work. A friend provided the brownies….I asked no questions. It helped John and that was all I cared about! I’m not suggesting anyone do anything illegal, but if I had to go to jail to have helped my son, I would have gone to jail. There are some things you just do……Peace to all – N
April 1, 2011 at 7:35 pm #48934gavinModeratorPersonally if it was me that was going through pain like this and needed help in increasing my appetite then I wouldn’t think twice about using cannabis if it helped. As Nancy said, no one should judge and people should be able to do what they want to if it helps them if they are in pain etc. Thanks for posting this Marion and I agree with what has been said here, no one should have to suffer and if cannabis helps then why not use it.
Best wishes to all,
Gavin
April 1, 2011 at 6:53 pm #48933lance21SpectatorThis information is very interesting and compelling, especially since my mom has recently had a significant increase in the pain she is experiencing. The doctor has increased her pain meds quit a bit. That has helped, but still has not provided complete relief.
Our problem is that we do not live in a state which has legalized the use of medical cannabis, so as much as I would love to encourage my mom to try something like the “brownies”, I don’t know that that is an option for us.
Any more information someone can provide about this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
Take care,
MarniApril 1, 2011 at 1:31 am #48932lainySpectatorYes, yes ladies, I agree. May I add though that I would LOVE the Brownies! Sure wish I had, had them for Teddy!
April 1, 2011 at 1:22 am #48931marionsModeratorNancy….I am a Californian. That speaks for itself, right? A friend of mine is being treated for stage IV breast cancer and she is really being helped by using marijuana for nausea control and for pain. Marijuana has a place in medicine and it should be available to all patients due to its medicinal purpose. I realize that I am opening a can of worms here but, I stand by my comments.
All my best,
MarionApril 1, 2011 at 12:24 am #48930nur1954SpectatorThanks, Marion, for always keeping us informed. For those who care to know, John was prescribed “marinol” (medicinal marijuana)….it had little to no effect on him. However, he did indulge in some “brownies”….and those actually increased his appetite, helped his pain, and overall increased his mood. I believe in doing whatever one needs to do….and no one should judge. Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents…..
