High HDL cholesterol – anyone have this?

I was wondering if anyone with cc has a genetic condition where your HDL (the good cholesterol) is very elevated. I have it, my sister has it, my mother and grandmother too. It’s usually considered a very good thing and leads to increased longevity but I saw one small mention that it may lead to liver disease and/or cirrhosis. Mostly people of Japanese descent have this, but Northern Europeans like me have it too. I’m desperately trying to understand why my mother got this terrible disease, and though there may not be a connection here, I’d be interested if anyone else knows anything about this. And if there’s a connection, people with high HDL should be taking precautions.
