Dear Viv –
How welcome your good news is. I was struggling with being sad today and your news encouraged me. There are people who are getting very good treatment for CC and experiencing success. You are part of our family now and we look forward to continued reports on your progress. Blessings, Susan

Viv…it is quite alright to mention the name of the surgeon on this site in fact, as Gavin has mentioned it may be of great benefit to someone else living in the U.K. Of course if you choose not to want to reveal the name than that is quite alright also. We are just thrilled that you are here with us.
I suppose that you have a few more weeks before you can start chemotherapy. Do you know which protocol has been contemplated?
Wishing for a speedy recovery and looking forward to many more of your postings.
All my best,

April 16, 2011 at 12:04 pm #49770gavinModeratorHi Vivcoles,
Welcome to the site. Sorry that you had to find us all but I am glad that you have joined us, and thank you so much for sharing your story with us all. I am very happy to hear that you found a surgeon who would do your surgery when others might not have. The Royal Marsden has an excellent reputation and experience of treating patients with CC. What was the name of the surgeon who did your surgery? We have a number of members here from the UK and this could be of interest to them.
I am also from the UK, in Dundee and my dad was treated with PDT in Ninewells in Dundee. Do you know what chemo regimen that you will be on? I hope that you will keep coming back here as you will get a load of support from the great members here, and please feel free to ask any questions and we will all help if we can. I wish you a speedy recovery from your surgery.
My best wishes to you,
Gavin

One month after surgery I am almost back to normal and subsequent scans showed that the surgery has been successful. I am now going to receive a course of chemotherapy to ensure that all traces of malignant cells are removed and am looking forward to leading a normal life in the future. I am very grateful to the surgeon and his team, who are based at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, for carrying out this procedure, which has given me a new lease of life.
