Hey everyone,
I had to create a new login since I forgot my old one. Must be the chemo brain.
I met with my oncologist yesterday. Overall things are stable, what does that mean exactly? I am confused by stability and cholangio. There are no new growths. There has been some improvements with Oxali/Gem, currently going on my 9th treatment.
Though, he is against trying intraperitoneal treatment. He said there would not be any benefit in doing it. There was not enough progress seen on the scans. I am being treated at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fl. They just started doing it here in fact. Intraperitoneal chemo is a very high dose of chemo targeted in the abdomen which is a very concentrated area.
I am looking at getting into Wake Forest in NC. They have performed over 7,400 hundred of these procedures, though it has never been done for cholangio. It has mainly been done for ovarian and pancreatic cancer.
I have been told it is a very aggressive treatment with possibly strong side effects. I had a liver transplant 2 years ago and that may affect things.
Does anyone have any experience with intraperitoneal?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks again,
Trevor
