Tiffany….I can only agree with what has been said. Tiffany, although it appears that everything is moving along peacefully you do however, at this point we would like to see a greater involvement with the hospice personnel. Don’t be afraid to speak up. You would like support personnel or, at least one other person comfortable with the situation with you at all times.
Hugs and love,

I understand what you are feeling. My dad died on Wednesday and, towards the end, his decline became steeper and things seemed to happen faster than we could grasp. But rest assured, pain can be controlled and I do not believe he suffered in the end. To us, his comfort was paramount. In his final days we could see him slipping away until one morning, he breathed his last breath. You needn’t be afraid. This is the natural process for all living things. Just take comfort in knowing your mother is very proud of you right now, and she always will be. It sounds like you are doing everything right.March 2, 2012 at 4:50 am #58250lainySpectatorTiffany, do not be scared! On our home page, under Supportive, Palliative, Hospice Care, I posted, “Sensitive: What you may expect”. I talk about Teddy’s final hours and what you may expect. Hospice also has a booklet that Teddy really followed almost to the T. If your Mom is kept comfortable it is not scary even if you are just somewhat prepared. Above all try to be strong. Bottom line is if she is comfortable all will follow and you just need to keep telling her that you love her and that it is ok to go to her Peace. It will give you strength and perhaps she is waiting for you to release her to make her journey. Prayers are going out to you and your family.
March 2, 2012 at 4:05 am #58249aracinggraceSpectatorThank you all so much. In two days, before my eyes, mommy seems to be having such a difficult time. She has literally been asleep since Tuesday with brief moments of waking to use the restroom or eat a little but then falls back to sleep. She was given more frequent nausea medicine, 1mg every 4 hours and then an 8mg every 8 hours. I thought the nausea meds were making her sleep but now I am not so sure. She is also on the Fentenyl patch, 50mg. That is changed every 3rd day. But that was not making her sleepy just taking the pain away. Please, help with any and all thoughts. I’m sorry to ramble but I am a tad scared.
God Bless All of You,

March 1, 2012 at 2:19 am #58246marionsModeratorTJ…I am so sorry to hear this. You might want to ask the physician as to why your Mom’s digestive tract does not allow her to break down food.
My heart is with you.
Hugs and love,

February 29, 2012 at 7:21 pm #58244aracinggraceSpectatorI called her this morning. She did say yesterday, not knowing it was food from 7 days ago, that it would be an ER situation.
February 29, 2012 at 6:28 pm #58243lainySpectatorAracinggrace, have you called the doctor to let him know what your Mom is throwing up? He really needs to know.

February 29, 2012 at 5:08 pm #58241jennifersMemberI’m sorry you are facing such a difficult time. I lost my Dad last June to this horrible disease, and he was my hero too. It’s so hard, but your Mom is so very lucky to have you by her side. Please know that you have people all over the world thinking and praying for comfort and peace for you both, including me.
Love of Love.

February 29, 2012 at 3:14 pm #58240aracinggraceSpectatorI don’t understand why is she is throwing up food from more than a week ago. Is there a blockage? It is breaking my heart..
February 29, 2012 at 3:55 am #58239aracinggraceSpectatorI wrote this not knowing that it would all change today. Her chemo has been cancelled for this week due to the toxicity returning and she threw up food from 7 days ago. I left her last night feeling descent and rushed back to her today to feeling down right horrible. She is on 8/4 hour nausea medicines, dizziness pills, the pain patch, and the umpteen other meds. I’m so sad. So scared. She is feeling the same way too. I love her so much and feel almost helpless.
