Oh, Thanks, Susie. It is still not a nice thing to have, a lot of the same kind of care as for CC. Well, she is 67, does not smoke or drink. In fact was a Phy Ed teacher in Chicago. Sheis doing ok, I just wondered as she never talks about it. She is on a Med and gets LABS every 3 months. Thanks again. Much appreciated.

    Lainy,

I am pretty familiar with PBC, used to see some patients who got transplanted for it.
I had my hepatologist test me for PBC, blood work for AMA, it came back negative. The reason I thought i may have it is because I also have high cholesterol.
My hepatologist told me PBC is not usually associated with CC but PSC is. I know lots of our member’s have PSC (primary sclerosing cholangitis) and that is a well known risk factor for CC.

    take care,

    susie

    Morning Momma!

Sorry to hear about your friend. Not sure if it could lead to CC or not but found this from the NHS in the UK, says it can slightly increase risk of liver cancer but doesn’t mention CC.

Hi Geniuses, I went to lunch today and was shocked to hear that a friend of mine has had PBC for 8 years now. I just looked it up and nothing mentions CC which of course is what came to my mind. It is also rare, and you don’t know you have it until later and the only cure is a transplant. Almost the same modus operendi and I was wondering if this in fact could develop in to CC? Anyone ever hear of it? THANX
