I just want to add my congratulations as well. It’s great to read good news when it comes to fighting this disease.

Yes I do believe it is true that every year that goes by without disease increases your odds of beating it.

And absolutely you should find out everything you can about your disease, type, staging, involvement/metastasis if any, etc. Knowledge is power.

I have read statistics for 3 year survival and 5 year survival. Guess I’m wondering how the statistics go once you’ve gone 3 years without a recurrence….still hoping that the odds improve with each passing scan….There was someone on last year who had survived 15 years…don’t know how many are out there.
I don’t know what kind I had! Should find out!

    Thanx for stepping in Percy!

I don’t know the numbers, but it seems to me that most people on this discussion board have had ICC and I am in the minority with ECC (as well as stage 2b). That is why I hesitate to hold up any of my treatment/outcomes as a model for anyone. Everyone is different and I would think that survival has factors that we don’t even know.

    Best wishes!

    Hi,
I think everybody is different, for example I had 3 resections and I just finished with RFA During my 4 recurrences in a 53 month period. However, I think Randi still clear of recurrence after 3.5 years.
She has extrahepaticCCA and I have the intrahepatic kind.
Stats in general shows recurrences with a high % between 50-75% with the distal CCA has the lowest recurrence rate and ICCA the highest. But as you know, some members here did not have any recurrences after 7 and 15years.

    God bless.

    Congrats again on 3 years.
I don’t have any real statistics myself. I wonder if Percy might chime in here.

Randi…Wonderful! Would you happen to know of any statistics of recurrence after a period of 3 years? You just posted on my 3 year clear posting, and I just reread that you are now 3 1/2 years out and your doctor says only a couple of more scans. I have never really gotten an emotional handle on the diagnosis so I examine everything from all angles! Wondering about the statistics this far out…Has your doctor said anything about that?
    Thanks!

(I know what you mean by scary..about 3 months from scan I start to feel it’s time for reassurance!) My next scan is 6 months away….

    Thanks everyone!

Susie:My next scan is in August, mostly because that is the time period that makes me comfortable. The Onc said that I will probably only have a couple of more scans and then be released from his care. scary…
