Guess its different switching within MDA, I don’t know. When I first went there I was “cancer of an unknown primary” so that’s why I didn’t get Dr. Javle to start with.

Danna, I would make a stink right with you! If we don’t advocate then who can help us? We need to help ourselves and always go with your gut instincts. What I forgot to say about knowing others on this site who got 2nd, 3rd and sometimes 4th opinions….they WERE given by MDA! I just had an issue here in Phoenix and left our new Banner MDA. Good luck.

It has kind of got me disappointed in MD Anderson. I’m going to talk to the director and if that doesn’t work I’m going to find someone else to contact. I’m not afraid to cause a big stink about it. I know the Dr. I have now is the assistant director in the gastrointestinal department so i don’t know if that may have something to do with it since its the director that makes the decision. I’m not very happy.

Danna, your concern about another opinion….I know instances on this site of ours where people have gotten referrals to other ONCS and Hospitals. Something does not sound right! Please let us know what you find out. Good subject.

    Hi,
Stents are mostly for the extra hepatic CCA; you have the intrahepatic kind and unless your tumor is way down near or in the left or right main bile ducts in the liver to block the bile flow, you may never need a stent. Jaundice is the sign when to talk to your doctor about stent.
    God bless.

Well I heard back from MD Anderson about switching Docs and they denied my request since there is no major problem with the current Dr. I told them I think it sold be m right to get to switch if I want and that I didn’t see the point in being at the best hospital if I couldn’t have the best Dr. for my disease. So she is suppose to see if a time can be arranged for me to talk with the Director of the department about my concerns and see if they will reconsider. Also, how does one know if stents are needed? I have not had any and nothing has ever been said about them. Just curious.

    Danna :)
