Thank you all for your kind words. What a loving and supportive group! Of note, my father went to MSK today and the MD there didn’t feel like the radioembolization treatment was ideal for my father. So, 2 different opinions which leaves us as his family even more confused. I will keep you posted.

I’m not able to help you with the spheres, but was wondering where you are being treated, since you are so close to NYC. I was being treated at Sloan Kettering for the first 2 years, but have switched to Fox Chase in Philadelphia for a clinical trial.
I grew up in Summit, so I know the area well.
If your schedule allows, and your father feels up to it, I am trying to start a support group. Since we are widespread, I suggested New Hope. It will be Thurs., Sept. 5. I am sending you an email through the system.
Good luck with information, and prayers for good results for your dad!Not sure if the Y90 microspheres are same as SiR spheres but thise both fall into the radioembolization category. My sister had radioembo at Stanford in Jan without any complications. She had some pain a few weeks or so afterward as the tumors get very inflamed in reaction to the radiation (this is expected). In April, scans showed that she didn’t have significant shrinkage of targeted tumors but did have a little. The CT doesn’t show how active these liver tumors are (as a PET would) so its possible that the tumors were rendered dead without a huge amount of shrinkage. Those tumors haven’t progressed either, which I consider a measure of success (though some mets appeared in areas not targeted by the radioembo.

I can’t help you on the planned treatment for your Father but know that you have come to the best place to be, our family! May I ask where he is being treated? We are BIG believers in 2nd and 3rd opinions and on reading up as much as you can as knowledge is our best tool for fighting this crazy CC. Please keep us updated on your Father as we truly care and above all Be Strong.

also read upon the related messages on radioembolizations on this forum under Radiation Tx and Options) start from early to most recent comments ,and you will arrive some sense of whether this treatment will work for your father.
It still a very debatable procedure. The efficacy vs the unknown side effects AFTER patient exposed to prior or afterward chemotherapy and different forms of radiation treatment to the liver ,morbidity and the current health situation of the patient.
For myself, It is a tough decision to be made base on a lot of variables.Others may disagree or simply have no alternative choice.God bless.
Hi all–I’m writing on behalf of my father who was just diagnosed with stage IV intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. He’s on a chemo regimen and the interventional radiologist wanted to start the SIR spheres microsphere (I hope I’m getting the name right). Has anybody else gone through this treatment? If so, any feedback? Good/bad? Thank you all in advance.
