I am wondering:
Health insurance companies are not required to cover the cost of the treatment or procedure being researched; however, the clinical trial’s sponsor may cover these costs.
At this point we still don’t have clear answers as to the additional cost to patients participating in clinical trials. In general clinical trial’s sponsor have not covered costs for additional blood tests as well as scans (MRI, CT, etc.) Insurance companies refused to cover additional scans associated with the research study i.e. anything not considered “routine” of treatment.
Is there someone enrolled in a clinical trial who can share their experience with us regarding this subject?
Thanks and hugs,
Marion
