LouFebruary 20, 2014 at 6:33 am #79612gavinModeratorHi Casimqueen,
Welcome to the site. Sorry that you had to find us all here and I’m sorry also to hear about your dad. But glad that you’ve joined in with us all as you’re in the best place for support and help and I know that you’ll get a load of each from everyone here.
Your dad is so right to seek a further opinion and I’m glad he has done so. Lainy and Marion are right about some of our other members having gone to the Cleveland Clinic and they will be along soon I am sure to share their experiences there. I hope your dad gets some good news there and please let us know how he gets on.
If we can help in anyway at all then please just ask and we’ll do or best for you. Please keep coming back here as well, you are not alone in this.
My best wishes to you and your dad,
Gavin
February 20, 2014 at 4:08 am #79611marionsModeratorcasimqueen….welcome to our site – so glad that you have found us. Obtaining a second opinion is one of the wiser decisions to make when diagnosed with this cancer. You have already done so and I wish for an informative report tomorrow. We have others with experience on the Cleveland Clinic who may want to share their thoughts with you. Again, thanks for joining in and please keep us posted; we care.
Hugs,
MarionFebruary 20, 2014 at 4:07 am #79610lainySpectatorDear Casimqueen, I am glad too that you found us early so welcome to our wonderful family. You have done what you have just right! You want to make sure you are at a big hospital where they will have more experience in treating CC. Cleveland Clinic is a good choice. We do have a few members that go/went there and hopefully they will chime in here. Did the ONC in Henderson say why it was inoperable? Did he give you a Stage? I am wishing you the best of luck at Cleveland. Did you used to live there? My Sister lives in Summerlein. Please keep us posted as we truly care.
February 20, 2014 at 3:08 am #9536casimqueenSpectatorMy father was recently diagnosed with CC. He has seen a Medical Oncologist in our hometown who stated that the tumor was inoperable and that he should start on Gemzar and Cisplatin chemotherapy drugs right away. We decided that a second opinion was required and are now at the Cleveland Clinic for that second opinion. We will see Dr. Quintini tomorrow morning. He is a surgeon in the Liver Tumor Clinic. Any advice or helpful hints would be greatly appreciated.
This appears to be a very supportive and informative group. I’m glad I came across it during my search for all things CC related. -
