Hi Bridgitte,
When Mom did chemo, the steroids were wonderful for keeping the side effects in control. However, Dad was just on steroids after brain surgery, and the reflux he had kept him in constant pain for days. Even prescription meds combined with OTC couldn’t relieve it until he was off the steroids. I’m starting to look into coated steroids- I heard they do exist, so will be bring this up to his ONC for when he starts chemo.
I’m happy to hear chemo is going pretty well so far- we’re all hoping to hear of great success.
Best wishes,
CatherineJanuary 30, 2016 at 7:46 pm #91214marionsModeratorBridgitte…….agree, side effects are about to occur. I would however; mention the heartburn issues. Wishing for absolute success.
Hugs
MarionJanuary 30, 2016 at 1:22 pm #91213bgmat48SpectatorGot my second chemo on Thursday and again got a headache for a couple of days but and have heartburn more than usual. Felt like a wet noddle the next day but better today. If that is all the side effects I get, I have nothing to complain about.

January 14, 2016 at 3:07 am #91209scott-sibleyMemberI just finished cycle 3 of 4 this week of gem/cis. I haven’t had many side effects at all. Very rarely I have a bit of nausea, gas, heartburn and a funny taste/smell in my mouth.
January 14, 2016 at 2:51 am #91208lainySpectatorDear Brigitte, we all wish we knew more about this crazy thing we call CC. I am sorry you have to go the chemo route but it is good that they caught these little monsters so early! Try to stay calm as you need your energy for other things. Put on your pink boxing gloves and give those uninvited guests heck!!!!! Wishing you the very best.

I’m sorry it has returned and so quickly, but the upside is they caught it quickly and can begin treating right away.
Try not to be nervous about the chemo. My husband was also nervous but it turned out to be rather uneventful. Fatigue but no other notable side effects. You will be in my thoughts tomorrow.

January 14, 2016 at 1:00 am #12043bgmat48SpectatorMy second scan since surgery in July is showing 3 or 4 small lesions of Cholangiocarcinoma on what is left of my liver, so chemo is the next steps. Tomorrow is my first time and I am nervous. Mostly worried about the side affects. I will have chemo for the next 3 months and then another scan.
My oncologist says they caught it early and it is a wait and see scenario. I didn’t think it would come back so soon as they cut out the original tumor and the margins were clean as were the glands.
Just don’t understand what causes this cancer. Anyway, I am trying to stay calm and take each day as a gift. -
