Oh, Lisa, so sorry it has reappeared but so happy it is only one and small! You are my hero from afar! You’ll get this little pest, I am totally sure of it. Hope you and your husband and children are having a peaceful Christmas together today. I am sending you special hugs.
December 22, 2012 at 4:15 pm #67819pcl1029MemberHi, Lisa,
Hang in there, you have David on your side and everything should be fine.
Of course 5 recurrences are no fun. but you are still here and i will pray for your completely recovery.
Your 5th recurrence reaffirmed my assumption that just receive the current recommendation of 6 month adjuvant chemotherapy after resection is not enough.Additional treatment may be of benefit for the long run.(keep the recurrence out as long as we can).
God bless.December 21, 2012 at 8:04 pm #67818lainySpectatorDear David, very happy to hear from you. My husband had Cyber Knife and to me it was a miracle! You will all be together for Christmas and that is a Miracle and a Blessing. Most importantly you have each other and as I have said before you are a real dynamic duo! Prayers as always headed your way!
December 21, 2012 at 7:36 pm #67817marionsModeratorDavid…thanks for filling us in. I so much was hoping for the location of tumor to allow for this type of radiation. Depending on the manufacturer of the machine it could mean treatment with any one of these: Axesse, CyberKnife, Gamma Knife, Novalis, Primatom, Synergy, X-Knife, TomoTherapy or Trilogy.
This is the best news we could hope for. I am thrilled.Hugs
MarionDecember 21, 2012 at 7:10 pm #67816lisacraineSpectatorWe met with Dr. Fung at the Cleveland Clinic today and went over Lisa’s PET/CT scan. Lisa has developed a new liver tumor which is her 5th recurrence. The good news is that the tumor is small(1.3cm), there is only one tumor and the rest of her scan was clear. Dr. Fung feels because of the location that steriotactic radiation may be the best treatment. He will consult with the tumor board in the next week and then set up the treatment plan. Dr. Fung is a class act doctor, he made special arrangements to come in today to meet with us. We are so appreciative of the care and compassion we receive at the Cleveland Clinic from Dr. Fung, Dr. Stephans, Dr. Estfan, Vicki, Elaine and Samantha. Please continue to pray for Lisa and our family. We are truly blessed.
Peace,
DavidDecember 21, 2012 at 6:17 pm #67815kris00jSpectatorLisa: I, too, was hoping your rising numbers were a glitch. I am so sorry that you had to get this news at all, but especially before Christmas. I just thank God you caught it early. You are in my daily prayers and I will continue to pray that the doctors come up with a plan for you soon.
December 21, 2012 at 5:47 pm #67814marionsModeratorLisa…. You are so right – this cancer can be relentless in re: to recurrence hence many physicians prefer to treat it as a chronic disease. You will feel much better once the next game plan is put in place.
Thinking of you and sending tons of hugs your way,
MarionDecember 21, 2012 at 4:22 pm #67813pamelaSpectatorDarn it, Lisa. I was hoping your rising CA19-9 was just some weird thing. I am happy you know your body so well that you knew something was up. You caught it super early and you know what works to get rid of those pesky tumors. Here is my new wish for you. I wish that stupid CC would realize that you are just too tough for it and it says ” This is just not worth it with this feisty lady. I’m outta here for good!!! I love you very much and I know your great doctors will come up with a successful plan. Have a great Christmas and we will have lunch soon.
Love and big hugs,
-PamDecember 21, 2012 at 2:24 pm #67812willowSpectatorLisa, I too share your disappointment and frustration. i also share your relief that its “just one small localized one”. My heart goes out to you in a big way, wishing you strength to keep running this marathon, the peace you need and joyful moments with your family this Christmas season.
WillowDecember 21, 2012 at 1:15 pm #67811lainySpectatorLisa, I am sorry to hear this BUT it is small and I know you will come up with a game plan. It’s like this CC has a brain of it’s own, yes? While it is not the news you wanted to hear, I hope you can have a Happy Holiday with your family and am sending you the best thoughts all wrapped up in a ton of love!
December 21, 2012 at 6:02 am #7776lisacraineSpectatorI found out today that my PET/CT scan showed a new tumor in the upper right lobe of my liver. The tumor measures 1.3 cm. I am grateful that there is only one and it is small and that the cancer did not spread anywhere else. I am also disappointed and sad that it just keeps coming back like a pesky bug! I meet with my doctor in the morning to figure out the new game plan. Please don’t post anything on FB, I want our son to finish up finals tomorrow before we tell him anything. Thank you all for your love, support and prayers.
