    Hi,
    If the drug goes through the FDA as “fast tract” or “breakthrough” status, it will be the equivalent of what you wanted. Indeed FDA did approve drugs ,esp. the so called “orphan drugs” in a much shorter time frame instead of the usual longer period required.

    I hope either governments or some big pharma companies will invest enough money to find a cure for “CC” and similar ones.I think the money spent on ads for fast food and soft drinks could fund a lot of research on things that will save people life instead of destroying there bodies.

    By the way why FDA do not approve promising drugs with good results in phase II for deadly diseases?

    The study of genes and that of immune therapy comprise the two most exciting areas present research is focused on. This research is being conducted by all entities involved in cancer research i.e. Pharma Industry, NCI, NIH, etc. In fact, as far as I know, there is not much in the pipeline for new chemo agents benefitting our patient community. Immune research has shown positive tumor responses for our cancer also and that rare cancers such as ours (solid tumors) have a higher probability of inclusion in present research. As you may know, CC research historically lacked the necessary funding to propel interest in this disease, but I strongly believe that with the present developments, we may finally reap some benefits too.

    This is promising. Where are large scale studies? Why isn’t immunotherapy being used more in CC? It certainly worked to “cure” my mothers bladder cancer (though a different type of immunotherapy). Turning on outlet own defense system to destroy cancer and leave healthy cells alone is what all therapies are striving for and this is exciting.
