I’m sorry dr. Chung did not work out for you. I tried to tell him last week I deserved a finder’s fee for advising you as to how good he is. FYI, I saw dr toshiba at Henry ford in Detroit prior to my surgery to see if I was a candidate for a liver transplant. I wasn’t. Mayo clinic would consider me after three years if I am cancer free.
I hope you have success in finding the care you want for your dad in Boston. There certainly are lots of quality choices there.

huong=my….your Dad is entitled to a copy of his medical records.

Unless your Dad has signed a durable power of attorney, requests for release of his medical records will have to be signed by him. Hospitals have social workers to guide you through this or you can go to the medical records office with your Dad and request release of: Physicians reports, blood tests, copy of MRI, CT, Sonogram, etc. basically everything and anything pertaining to the diagnoses. Most likely this information will be copied on to a disk, which you then forward to the requesting physician or institution.
Until others have a chance to respond to your request of recommending a physician, you might want to take a look at this lengthy thread:

I realize it is lengthy however; it has important information posted by our members.
Others may come along and help you out also.

huong-my, if you can go a few miles further NYC has 2 good ones, Sloan Kettering and NYC Presbyterian Dr. Kato) or John Hopkins, all 3 are tops. I know you will need copies of all Dad’s LABS and all other test results. You will need to call the Hospital and ask how to proceed. You will be getting some more advise on this just hang tight until morning. I think you are doing an excellent job with your thoughts now. Hoping for the best.

    Huong-My Nguyen update:
Just decided to transfer my dad to boston, where my sister live because I heard they have more advance in heath care and more doctors that are specialist in CC or klatskin cancer. My dad was determined inoperable as of now due to the tumor site to be in the “y” section and hard to operate, CT/radiation is his next step to hopefully resize and allow for resection. Though, Michigan (grand rapids) is limited in physician specialist in this field. If you know a great doctor in boston please let me know. I heard MAC is the best hospital for cancer patient around in boston, worchester, but i’m not sure how specialized they are in this CC field. If you know of anything please let me know…

PS: I was asked to fax or send all the info/data of my dads in advance, and I dont’ even know how to get start with this. Please direct me
