Lainy,
Praying the new meds work for you and there are no side effects.
The gift shop sounds much better than the cafeteria.
Hugs

And early Congrats on 5 years that is awesome. Hopefully the Remicaid will do it’s job and take care of it for you. Good luck and keep us updated.

I’m glad to hear you have no pain from the UC. Hoping the Remicaid helps. Best to you with the infusions. Your daughter sounds like a great support and a trooper (the apple fell close to the tree)! WillowAugust 20, 2013 at 4:18 am #74835lainySpectatorKris, the GI told me right away he did not want to do that. I am 73 and have had too many surgeries, he said. I had a hysterectomy at 32. In my late 40’s had 3 back surgeries on the same disc. About 6 years ago Gall Bladder and 4 years ago my own rare Cancer called a Gastro Stromal Intestinal Tumor or GIST. He really feels if we can just hit on the right Meds I can go in to a remission. BTW OCT 1st I start my 5th year Cancer free. I always say I got rid of things I didn’t need! Thanks for your thoughts. P.S. Last Feb this really flared up and I was in the hospital for 2 weeks and 3 GI’s all said no to surgery. I have been lucky as I have had no pain.

Not knowing all of your story….and you may have answered this in another post but have you thought about an ostomy of some sort. Depending on where the worst of the disease it, it could be a colostomy or ileostomy. I know it seems rather extreme but I have had some patients in the past that have had to have it done for complications of some sort and wish they had done it sooner. And with the right Ostomy Nurse teaching it usually is fairly uncomplicated to deal with.
Just a thought coming from the nurse in me.
And half and half news is sooo much better than none at all.Kris
August 20, 2013 at 1:21 am #8789lainySpectatorFirst I want to thank all of you, you really know how to make a girl feel on top of the world! So, the right side has healed a little, while the left side is as bad as it was, no healing. BTW if you get UC and have a preference (LOL) you want it on the left side! He took biopsies and removed 1 polyp and will have those results next week, not worried about that. His assist. has already called my Hospital and Insurance CO. and the hospital will be calling me to set up the first infusions which are done over a 2 week period. So Robin emailed me tonight and said Mom, I will take you the first time until we know your reaction to the Remicade. I wrote her back and said, you just want to eat in the Cafeteria (we ate there so much when T was there). She writes back, you know me too well but you forgot about their great gift shop! See, we do everything with laughter as did Teddy. But thank you again!
