Porter….sorry to hear you are going through another operation. Will be thinking of you. Have a friend who has just gone through her 3rd since original surgery..for scar tissue blockage. I have had a lot of pain on and off, too, with scar tissue. It’s amazing that it continues to form and cause pain so long after surgery. As others have said, you seem to be in good hands and you will get through this. Sending lots of healing thoughts to you for a quick recovery.

After I read your post and was thinking a little more about what you said I realized what the doctor was talking about. It’s not as common as the adhesions but it does happen at times too. And if there are adhesions forming they will be able to take care of them too. But yeah that would cause a significant amount of pain when the “sliding” happens which happens whenever it feels like it.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

    Big Hugs, Kris

Kris I think the medical term is intussusception and i think i have a better understanding. Scar tissue manipulating the intestines and they are sliding in and out of one another, or like I said engulfing. Surgeon is back in the country and everything was confirmed today. I have my pre op office visit Tuesday and surgery Wednesday. I think I will be more comfortable about the surgery after my office visit and I am able to talk to her more about the procedure and what it will entail. I do know that this time this lesion is on the complete opposite of the liver compared to last time. My new tumor marker came in as well at my “usual” hospital and it is back to 10. So the last one as they thought was most likely just a variability error. Both of my parents have passed and so my Aunt is coming up for this, as she did last year. My plan next year is to get together with my family and have us all doing something fun rather than just coming together at times like these! But thanks everyone. I will keep you posted. Hospital 4-7 days and guessing as of now 4-6 weeks recovery time. Blessings to all. <3

Porter, I am like everyone else, it’s the best bad news I have ever heard. It’s bad that you have to have surgery again but the fact that you are is good…..almost makes me confused. As for the rest of I think I know what the doc is talking about. Often when you have abdominal surgery they move the intestines around quite a bit and sometimes when they put everything back your body doesn’t react really well to it. It can cause adhesions or scar tissue that causes the small or large intestines to “stick” together. It often causes pain when food tried to pass through the scarred areas. Mark had a previous abdominal surgery…..many, many years ago and they had a terrible time getting through the scar tissue to his liver. So my hope for you is that this will be an easy surgery since it is so close after that last one.

Keep us posted and you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

    Porter-

I am sorry to hear of the latest challenges. Adhesions from surgery are very common and can be painful. The scar tissue grows and connects things together that shouldn’t be (KrisV can surely explain better). Mom got them decade ago from a laperscopic surgery. They did go in twice to fix them, but only when so bad that they caused a blockage in her intestines. Rest of time she just lives with the discomfort since every time you operate, you run the risk of more scar tissue. And, since her last SIRT she has had adhesion pain flare up as well. I’m not sure if radiation can cause the scar tissue or this is finally manifesting itself from last year’s surgery.

    Good luck-

Porter, when I hadn’t seen anything from you on here or the facebook page, I had the ugly feeling that something was up and that you were dealing with it internally before disclosing the results of the scan,

So, I can pretty much only echo what the others have said,…..you’ve got a great team who are acting very aggressively, but thoughtfully. They saw this thing, watched it…and though it’s grown, it doesn’t seem to have grown really fast. But, now, they are ready to act with another resection, which you WILL get through okay…and get those darned intestines hopefully straightened up as well. Messy intestines are not a good thing!!! :)))

Duke said it so well…..having another resection…who likes the idea of that….but your team is on top of everything and they’re pushing for something very proactive. Then…..best of all…you can move on again.

I like the attitude of your team and the people they consult. Get things ready, get it done…and get on with life. You KNOW I will be praying for you during surgery and waiting for the report back to us.

You’ve had a plan in place and are following the plan. Easy peasy. You’ll look back on this and say “Didn’t like having to have another resection, but my team came through for me and I’m good to go.” And then get on with your life.

    Peace
    Duke

Thanks Lainy. Like I said surgeon is out of country and really hasn’t seen any of my reports and results so as of now this is based on what she has heard. The onc did talk to another oncology surgeon and they both confirmed that this lesion is in a “good” spot and can be removed. They have been watching me like a hawk and they have definitely been on their A game so in less she feels otherwise, I hope this plan stays in place!
