To me, it would make sense to radiate that area where the tumor WAS– because that’s exactly where I got my recurrence.

And I’ve heard of plenty of people with other kinds of cancer having radiation where there was no tumor to radiate. For example, a friend of mine had breast cancer,, and besides radiation of the general area, they even did separate radiation of the place where she had had a drain, in case cancer cells had gotten into the drain.

Please take good care of yourself, rest up and indulge yourself in anything that feels good.

    Hugs,

In reading back thru the posts of this sites caring and really kind people, it has been mentioned quite alot of times that the consensus is that one must have adjuvant chemo AND adjuvant radiation after resection.
Some have posted that in looking back, knowing what they know now, they would have insisted on not just chemo, but adjuvant radiation as well.
I value everything posted and have made decisions based on the fantastic and in depth info on this sit made by all you wonderful people.
But, I have one really important question……..what is to be radiated if a “”successful””resection was possible?
Please help me know what it is that is to be radiated.
I have been to Stanford and UCSF and consulted with 2 Oncology Radiologists and they look at me as if I am clueless when I bring up adjuvant Radiology. Even they say, “what is it that we are supposed to radiate at this point in time?..and we will be happy to see you when the CC returns”.
Please help me, today has been such an awful, awful day====I am on my 4th cycle of gemzar/xeloda and it finally hit me like a ton of bricks today==I can barely move I am so dizzy.
