Thank you guys for the helpful advice and support. We are waiting to see oncologist now so he will let us know if the blood work he had yesterday shows problems with his kidneys. The radiology doctor feels that his bloating is more from stomach gasses than ascites.

Hope all of you have a good weekend. Phil is going to try and go fishing with his son tomorrow so I hope he feels up to it :)

    Hugs to you all!

Sharon….you would want to confirm this with the physician, but there is a good chance that Phil’s fluid build-up is related to “ascites,” an accumulation of fluid in the peritoneal cavity (the space within the abdomen that contains the intestines, the stomach, and the liver. It is bound by thin membranes.) Fluid also likes to accumulate in the extremities i.e. feet or hand. Elevating Phil’s feet will help. The physician may prescribe diuretics and recommend reducing the salt intake and perhaps order draining of the abdominal fluid as well. This should make Phil much more comfortable.
Don’t hesitate from informing the physician of the recent physical and emotional changes prior to Friday’s visit.
Stay strong, dear Sharon. A tidal wave of good wishes are heading your way.
    Hugs
    Marion

    Sharon and Phil,

I am sorry that you are experiencing these symptoms, I’m sure this is difficult for you. I am not familiar with these symptoms, but it does sound as though Phil may be retaining fluid. The doctor/nurse in charge of his care may be able to prescribe/suggest something to alleviate the swelling. Is he continuing to produce urine and has the color changed? (I’m wondering if perhaps his kidney function may be deteriorating). You didn’t mention pain, so I’m hoping Phil is not experiencing much pain.

    My thoughts are with you.

Dear Sharon and Phil. I have a list of Signs that the end is near. If you would like me to send them to you please send me your email. I am trying to remember if Phil is in Home Hospice. Teddy followed this list pretty closely and I found that it took a lot of the fear away by knowing what to expect. Just send me a note through the CC site by going to my profile.

    Hello again
My husband was diagnosed in September and was given a year with chemo. His tumor is inoperable and it has metastasized to his lungs. He has had 8 rounds of Gemzar and Cisplantin and 25 rounds of radiation tonhelo shrink tumor to relieve pain. Now finally to my question: His stomach/abdomen is bloated, he sleeps most of the time and the sleep is so deep it’s difficult to wake him. His feet are slightly swollen and his mood swings are worse.
Does anyone know what causes this? Is this a sign of a decline?

His tumor count is 990. He goes to oncologist non Friday.

    Thanks yoibin advance
