Mark was the same way after surgery for several months just the smell of coffee made him sick and this was the man who drank 2-3 pots a day prior. He’s back to drinking some now but only about 1/2 a pot and using creamer now. And when I told him about the coffee enemas he laughed.

I’m with KrisV and Lainy! I hate even the smell of coffee… so I couldn’t even think if drinking it much less a coffee enema! DISGUSTING!
And since the surgery, the smell is even more disgusting.

The coffee enema thing is from the Gershon (sp?) institute. You also have to drink 13 green drinks a day & to go to the clinic would cost $4000 a week!! There is a documentary you can watch online. It is interesting but I couldn’t do the coffee thing or the 13 drinks!

    Tiff –
I had a pt years ago doing the alternative medicine for her breast cancer and one of the treatments was coffee enemas. I was flabbergasted at that. I actually called the practitioner to see if maybe she misunderstood what he said. He gave me all kinds of information about how it worked clearing toxins from the system but could give me no scientific studies. I felt so sorry for her because when she finally decided that it might not be the best route it was too late. I know that there are complementary medicine that may go with traditional Western medicine…massage, acupuncture, biofeedback, etc and that diet plays a big role in our lives…..but coffee enemas. I am with Lainy…..I can’t drink it either and as far as anything else….

Ha. Tiff, I really hate coffee, can’t even take the smell. So I will just say I won’t do coffee standing up, sitting or laying down!

I am with Lainy on this one. I have been a nurse for twenty years and have never seen anyone cured by some of these alternative treatments. I would offer that if it sounds to good to be true then it probably. I know we get stuff from family and friends that this or that can cure his cancer or his diabetes. For awhile it was aloe vera juice then cinnamon. The other concern that I have with some of these is that they may interfere with your chemo or other medications that you take as the interactions of many herbal medicines or alternative medicines have not been studied.
That being said however, remember it is your life and your disease and if you want to try something then it’s your choice. I would just talk about it with your doctor first so it doesn’t interfere with anything.
And I know I opened a can of worms here again. :)

I agree here! Someone told me that I need to start doing coffee enemas. I was like….WHAT???
Needless to say, I have coffee everyday. But it comes in a nice white (well right now red) cup from Starbucks.

Patti, that’s hilarious. I like his sense of humor, really. Probably cause it’s warped!

I just realized I posted this in the wrong place. Should have been in the Alternative place!! Oh well!! When I asked the surgeon how I got this he said, “You must have pissed off a witch”!! Ouch!
Thanks for your input. I agree with you all!

Actually Kris you did not open a can of worms as we have had this discussion many times. I want to tell you girls something. My brother is 3 years younger than me (70). He has an extremely stressful job as a partner in a huge CPA firm. there are 25 partners! 2 of his major accounts are Mohawk Carpet and the Andy Warhol estate and he has fought some cases in DCA. I wanted to give you some background. He had Diabetes and worked really hard at what he eats to the point of blah. He gets up in the morning and does his Treadmill. Breakfast every day is, no deviation/ cheerios sprinkled with cinnamon. Lunch is either a turkey sandwich or tuna salad. Dinner is chicken grilled, a potato and maybe corn, salad or something. NO dessert and no snacks. After dinner he takes a 3 mile walk. THEN last summer almost had a fatal heart attack. Doc said if he had waited 2 more hours to go in he would not have made it. So, I believe if something is going to happen you can stand on your head as it will happen. BTW a couple of years ago a member here, can’t remember who it was, but they went to MDA Houston, asked the ONC how he got CC? The ONC said “Luck of the Draw!” While I didn’t care for that answer, true, that! Nite all.

Patty, Cakes….just felt like saying that. I give you a resounding NO to your question. My daughter had a BF who got Lymphoma. Went to that center here called Envita in Scottsdale. He got IV’s of Vitamin C and after $50,000 he went in to remission for a year and now it is back full force. I have heard of so many things but they really do not seem to work. Anything that sounds too good to be true is usually not! Also if something was really working I would think Doctors would celebrate that. When people tried to tell me to try this or that with Teddy and when I got that other rare Cancer I would just say that these Cancers are so rare we really don’t know a thing, therefore I thank you but I will stick with what the ONC tells me. Or I guess you could just stop them by telling them you prefer not to hear it. As for Dr. Oz I gave up on him a long time ago. For awhile he would support something one week then put it down the next. Also remember that none of these miracle cures have any statistics to really prove they work. Sorry to be a Debbie downer but it is one of my pet peeves when people prey on people. Patty, eat what you want with in reason, smile and you already have a great attitude and that should help a lot. I am sure others will weigh in on this too.

I have had so many ‘friends’!! tell me I should try this or that diet. Dr. Oz had someone on the other day said if you take 1 tsp. of wasabi a day it will cure cancer!! Been told by another friend to go to ‘know the cause’ online and watch. This guy claims all cancer is caused by fungus so go on the diet to eliminate all foods with fungus! Then cannibus is supposed to cure cancer. I get overwhelmed & don’t know what to say to them. Does anyone here know anyone who has been cured by any alternative methods!! I am trying to eat as healthy as I can.
