Hi carol, Beano is an over the counter med that helps relieve bloating and gas. Is charlie have internal or external radiation. I know I mentioned before , I have had radiation twice now with what I consider very good results. It was external 3-D comformal. The beams of radiation go in small and expand to cover the tumor area only. The machine moved around under and above and sideways to ensure the tumor was completely zapped from every angle with 4-5 little zaps. I only did it for 15 days each time. infact you are pre scan measured and marked so each day only takes about 5 minutes total with the type of radiarion treatment I had. That was over a year ago and I have not had any problems since. In fact I’m praying that the new chemo regimen doesn’t undo the good the radiation did for my liver. There has been no growth since in areas zapped; liver and spinal area. This regimen now is to try and put a stop to a tumor growing in the lungs. I had only drowsiness and slight itching both times. If at any time you really feel pain or or the out side of the body starts really getting sunburn like , I would be asking questions immediately. It really depends on how much is given and for how long also the person. I just know from other patients that I chatted with each morning radiation is not that bad pain wise. Only one person out of about 12 had any complaints. Charlie I wish and pray you have outstanding results from this treatment. Remember advocation continues during treattment. If you feel your body has been zapped enough at any given point , ask to talk with the Radiologist. Thumbs up Charlie ! give a whirl. Carol it appears my cough has finally stopped. Thank God my stomach muscles were begining to hurt. Even on the pain breakthrough meds .

Well, I gotta tell ya Jeff…..this ain’t Hawaii. We did have the most snow in December on record for that month. I love to XC ski and it was outrageous. Then it started to rain. I mean the critters were lining up hoping for an Ark. So now that it’s at least cooled off a bit again we have some snow cement holding down the leaves from blowing around and another 6″ forecast for tonight/tomorrow. Perhaps it will be winter again. You’ll get a grass skirt and maybe Marion can arrange some Lederhosen for me.

Hey Peter, Hows it going buddy? How are those majestic vermont mountains? I used to love driving up through that area. Although some of those mountain sides use give me a tickle feeling at times. I would grip on to the steering wheel until my knuckles turned blue Ha! Yes, my CA-19 dropped from 28 to 24 and now 21 within the last 41/2 months. I had some pemmican last night. Ate the whole bag! Found a recipe to make it myself. Store bought is high priced, high in protien, but awfully high in sodium. So I’m going to try making a batch with less sodium of course.
Hula Hula! I can see me wearing a grass skirt. Ha! Yep I agree with falling of the deep end! My wife says there not doubt in her mind. Ha!

I’m still visaulizing the pemican and hawiaan shirt……on the beach no less. Then I get Kris walking up with blue hair and asking for bite. We’re all off the deep end. You gotta love it after almost 9 years……way to go!

Hey Jeff-I’m not sure beef jerky and Hawaiian shirts go together but I am sure you will make it work! Good luck with the next round, I hope your labs will allow it.
PatriceI’m going to go get some beef jerky for snacking then. Always did like the stuff. The marrow must come from the grizzle and fat from off the bone I guess. I fancy some anyway.

JeffPemmican is the word for ground up beef jerky. Native Americans discovered it was a great way to make beef soup and it kept stable and didn’t go bad, also easier to carry.
Just one of those things you learn in life. My heritage is Native American. Tastes great! Sorta like Tobacco(sp) chaw.
CharleneCheckup with Oncologist yesterday. Wants me to do one more round of chemo on Wednesday and followup ct scan 4 weeks later. My CA-19 was 21 and my CEA .053. ( I know you would be wondering Peter) Ha! Platelets a little low as expected and wbc’s a little low even after taking antibiotics and injections of filgrastim. This chemo is causing congestion of the lungs…. Don’t read further if you have a weak stomach…..
Loss count but at least five times after severe coughing spell, big chunky blood clots have come out of my lungs. I’m looking at it as tumor crap clearing out. I’m watching my blood pressure and pulse and feeling fine and dandy. When Wednesday rolls around my counts particularly wbc’s and platelets, and nutrophils need to be fairly good or I’ll pass on chemo until after Hawaii trip. I refuse to be immuno-suppressed and miss this trip. The Doctor thinks I have enough time to recover. So I let him have the last word but will decide for my self on Wednesdays. Oh, almost forgot;( Pemmican) has anyone ever tried? It’s a dietary staple for human consumption. From what I understand it is a bone marrow full of protien and monounsaturated fats. Is suppose to boost your immune system wbc’s and platlets. Thought I would ask. When I do further searches I keep coming up with beef jerky under this brand name? Well, thats it for now folks. Keep your chins up and stay positive. Never under estimate the power and will of the mind with a little or in my case a whole lot of chemo and radiation thrown in. Kris, I’m sending a prayer of support to ya girl!
