I see there is some recent 2008 research out on Antrodia Camphorata…

May be worth pulsing the author for where to purchase (if it would give you a lower price) or if any studies are underway that would be a candidate for.

Additional, the USPTO makes reference to Nov. 2008 issued Patent 7,456,225, “Liver protection compounds of the cyclohexenone type from Antrodia camphorata”, to assignee Golden Biotechnology Corporation (Taiwan). The patent info notes that the prevalence of liver diseases is quite high in Taiwan, and the price of Antrodia camphorata is very expensive due to the extremely slow growth rate of natural Antrodia camphorata that only grows between Junes to October.

The recent patent activity by a biotech company would likely suggest that someone feels there’s a profitable market for the substance. As the source notes, “Although Antrodia camphorata extracts were reported to have the abovementioned effects from previous experiments, and the components were analyzed in succession, further experiments are needed to identify the effective composition for liver protection. The application in liver diseases treatment and prevention of components from Antrodia camphorata extracts will be of great beneficial effects from studies of liver protection if the real effective composition is found.”
