Sophie, they’ve put my dad on Lexapro and Zoloft with ativan as needed for agitation. Maybe the lexapro would help. Violarob is right when that anti-depressants work so differently for everyone. Often people have to keep trying until they find one that works for them. And to drag it out even more it’s suppose to take 2-4 wks before it actually kicks in.

Good luck. I’ve heard deep breathing helps too

I have had good luck with plain old fluoxetine (generic Prozac). I take just a little bit, 10mg every other day. On the off day, I take a supplement, 5HTP which helps your body to make more serotonin. Unfortunately, most antidepressants are trial and error. What works for one person may not work for another. Good luck to you!

My sister was on xanax for a time. I’m not sure it helped tons, but it certainly didn’t hurt. I wouldn’t be able to tell you if it caused nausea, because she was nauseous all the time. Hope that helped a bit, Belle

    Hi Sophie,
My oncologist prescribed Remeron (30mg) for me. It’s working for me so far, at least I’m not weepy all the time. I do feel more like myself. Also it is helping to stimulate my appetite.
I’m currently on a chemo cocktail of gemzar and cisplatin. I haven’t had any adverse reaction with the Remeron (that I am aware of).
    Hope this is some help.

Hello my fellow storm troopers, I need some advice on something to help me through the days. I have bile duct cancer with intrahepatic liver cancer with mild cirrhosis. I tried Zoloft, but it made me upchuck. Does anybody have any suggestions which antidepressant drug might help me without doing any damage. I am on Gemzar and Xeloda chemo treatments, and I will never be able to have radiation. Does anything help take the flatness out of your personality and maybe help you laugh and not stare all the time?

I really need the advice of some of you who experts.

    Love and prayers for you,
    Sophie
