    Hi,
    At this stage of the disease,if your mom do not want to take OTC drugs
    from Walgreens or Wal-marts like Docusate 100mg or Magnesium citrate by mouth, she can try glycerin adult suppository or stronger Like Dulcolax suppository(just follow instruction on the box or ask the pharmacist how to use the products.) Fleets enema are other choices that do not require a prescription.
    But first of all,your mom can stop to take the iron pills for a while until the bowel movement comes back.
    Iron pills can increase the chance of constipation.
    God bless.

    Lainy & Gavin;

    Mom is not taking any laxatives or the like. She takes iron pill, baby aspirin, tylenol for pain, anxiety pill and depression pill.
    I will ask the oncologist.
    Thank you.

    Hi Sharon,

    Please do not worry about asking any questions at all. Is your mum taking anything for her bowel movements, laxatives or Lactulose or anything like that? Sorry to hear that you are not getting anything back from the hospice nurse, that is not right at all. And I agree with Lainy about speaking with your mums ONC or doctors about this and I am sure that they will be of much more help than the hospice nurse. Please let us know how you get on here.

    Best wishes,

    Gavin

    Sharon, I would call the ONC and ask what you can do about the movement. Sorry that your Hospice is at such a loss on everything, that is not the way it is supposed to be. Dollars to donuts they have never had a CC case before. When something happens that they cannot fix or that they question they really are supposed to call the ONC themselves.

    My friends;
    I am not happy with asking the question, but I depend so much on you.
    Mom’s bowel movement in not healty. I will say like green sludge. Is there any way to make this better? Asking the hospice nurse is like–why bother.
    Perhaps there is nothing that can help. But I would like to try. The hospice nurse tells me that they cannot cure Mom. As if I don’t already know this.
    Mom eats very little, but does drink lots of water. I read somewhere that all nothing gets processed, but moves through the body too quick. Will her bowel movement get better with ANYTHING or do I just have to leave her like this? Any comment would be helpful.
    Bless you all.
