Sissy….I so much understand your desire of wanting to an answer to your question re: MCTD and CC. But there is no answer. Yes, certain, known risk factors have been identified. They include:
Exposure to Thorotrast, Primary sclerosing cholangitis, congenital liver malformations, and infection with the parasitic liver flukes Opisthorchis viverrini.
But the reality is that the majority of people have no known identified risk factor. Accelerated research is desperately needed in order to identify this cancer on a molecular level, as would early detection methods, which would prevent the late stage diagnoses most patients are faced with.
The good news though, is that research has increased over the last few years.
Sissy, good luck with connecting with others in North Carolina. I am sure that it will happen for you.
    All my best wishes,
    Marion

Hi Sissy, if you go to our search engine and type in MCTD or immune disorder some past posts may appear. Do the same for North Carolina and you may be pleasantly surprised! Take care and please keep us updated.

I have a connnective tissue disease (MCTD) and am trying to see if there s any relation to my CC diagnoisis. Does anyone have a secondary connective tissue disease or immune disorder? Also, any women with CC from Western North Carolina out there?

    God Bless! Sissy
