    No unusual asbestos exposure for me… I’m thinking it was all the hot dogs I used to eat. ;)

    That is what I blame my diagnosis on….I grew up in Libby, Montana, one of the biggest asbestos exposures super fund sites in the states!….will never know for sure but definitely my gut instinct!

    My dad worked for the Railroad too, and has documented exposure to asbestos … and he has CC. As a result of that exposure he was receiving money from some type of asbestos trust fund for a while, but it stopped … I don’t know the details.

    From the ICPR studies, 18 of the 177 responders checked that they had been exposed to asbestos either at home at at work. This is old data so there may be more data available now.

    My father worked for the railroad for 41 years and was exposed to asbestos for many years. He passed away from this monster of a disease in Dec. 2014, only 3 months after being diagnosed. I too was wondering if there was a connection between the asbestos exposure and CC.

    It would be so helpful to me to know how many members have had asbestos exposure. I am getting ready to file my husband’s claim with the VA. He definitely was exposed to at least 2 species of liver flukes that cause this cancer. BUT his military medical record documents all of the asbestos exposure he had while serving on Navy ships – lots of it. So I am going to cite both the liver fluke and asbestos.

    Yes Marion that would be a great idea. How would we go about it though? And I guess that if we did do this then we could get Helen and all of her AMMF members to participate as well? Just a thought but I am sure that Helen would like to particpate as well.

    Gavin, this is something we could do on this site by asking our members to report prior asbestos exposure. The study presented is rather small and inconclusive at best howeer; we could do our own follow-up, as our patient community by far succeeds the 145 people analyzed retrospectively.
